Hello!

I am looking for a great place for a family holiday that gap wheelchair accessible activities to do. It is me in the chair and often g am left out of activities because they are not suitable. We would love a holiday were we can do everything together. Any suggestions appreciated.

  • Try looking up wheelchair family friendly events that might be on in the area. Astonishing as it may sound many summer ‘park and street’ orienteering events are pusher/wheelchair friendly. You get a map and have to visit controls choosing the best way. These events are held across capital cities in Australia, often in the early evening to beat the heat. You can go around as a group.

  • Do you have any contact with a Disabled Association at all that may know of places? Is there a Govt. Dept. who may have a list? If you are a member of a Motoring Association at all? They may have a list. If you know of towns you would like to visit, they may have lists in their books that have disabled symbols on them. Some Holiday Parks / caravan parks have cabins suitable for disabled people.

  • go onto info centre websites and ask them… also, Frankston Victoria has wheelchair access on the beach – which gets rave reviews… All is flat, so great for wheelchair bound x
