Hello!

She’s 16 months old, can literally run with her push walkers, walk around furniture confidentially, can even stand herself up from sitting with no assistance or holding on to anything. With encouragement can walk 12-15 steps between DH and I too. But totally chooses to crawl (at great speed I might add). Even if you stand her up and hold her hand.

  • I wouldn’t worry, she’ll walk when she’s ready.

  • Just be persist at when trying to encourage her to stand and give her a small gap to start with and see how that may go

  • Perhaps hold things out for her to grab, but hold them at her standing height so that she has to stand up to reach the item. When she’s standing just move back slightly so that she has to move forward to grab the item.

  • have you got other young kids you can expose her to? When she sees them running and getting things done faster – (and the fun they have running), then competition will make her want to run before walking… ;)

  • Try to encourage her by holding her drink out for her to try to reach or a favourite toy. Once she realises its quicker to walk than crawl she’ll favour walking
