Hello!

I like my job yet I feel that I have a lot more to offer . Do I move on or do I plod along? How can I express to my workplace that I feel I have more to offer?

  • I would speak to your manager and if you don’t get a positive result- move on.

  • Regular conversations are important so that your superiors are aware of your goals and development aspirations and how they can help you with these.

  • Do you get regular meetings for performance reviews? Perhaps suggest you’d like more challenges or put your hand up for more responsibilities ?

  • I too agree with the previous comments.

  • If you don’t ask they will not know that you want more.

  • I also agree with other mom members …approach your boss well prepared and see how it goes from there.

  • Schedule a time to sit and talk with your manager and give adequate reasons why they should consider you for a promotion.

  • Keep plodding along, being excited and enthusiastic about your job, do your supervisors notice. And maybe ask to have a chat about it

  • Think about what it is you want and what you could bring to the organisation and then take it to your boss as a proposal. Bosses are usually receptive when they can see what’s in it for them and there’s not a lot of work for them to do.

  • Yes, ask your manager for a conversation about your function and go in prepared.

  • It is also useful to list what you like and dislike about a job and also what you can offer a job and organisation.

  • I have these discussions during one to one catch up times. Going to a catch up with a list of what you offer and the direction for further development is useful.
