Hello!

If I purchase coconut oil it usually comes in a bottle or jar. How do I get it out of the container because it is usually set quite hard?

  • it simple just sit the jar in some hot water and give it a swirl every now and then as it liquefies. you can also sit in the sun

  • Personalyl I do not like to melt coconut oil in the microwave. Despite what some claim online, it is not recommended to use a microwave to liquefy your raw cold pressed coconut oil! Coconut Oil encompasses anti-viral, anti-thrombotic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that can be lost with high heat. These properties make raw coconut oil so much more than just an insanely nourishing moisturizer, they explain why coconut oil is such a multi functional healer too.
Gently melting to a temperature of 24C is better. Using a warm spoon is easy, the coconut oil will melt in the warm food.

  • If the lid is metal take the lid off and put the jar in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it slightly I do this and it works just fine

  • The easiest way is to heat your spoon so that it melts the coconut oil. It’s easier than heating up the whole jar.

  • I used to just chip away at it with a knife. Now I can see there are easier ways

  • These tips should hopefully help you in the kitchen with the coconut oil – happy cooking. :)

  • I use a spoon and have it slightly warm.

  • Mine is always liquid because I live in QLD but spoon out and melt it.

  • As you may or may not have worked this out, coconut oil solidifies when cool and melts to a liquid form when warmer. Therefore two solutions come to mind. Leave it in a cupboard during warmer weather and it will naturally revert to a liquid. If this is not an option spoon it out of the jar into a container that is more manageable.

  • In Winter or cooler temperatures, you can melt the Coconut Oil in the microwave and pour it out.

  • I dip my spoon in hot water and then scoop!

  • I use a spoon to get it out…its not usually a problem in summer. In winter, I use a hot spoon or sit it next to the stove when I’m cooking.

  • Sit it by a heat source like your stove. A little bit of heat will melt quite a bit of the oil.

  • I chop out chunks with a spoon until I have the required amount

  • Leave it out on the bench in room air. This will loosen it and make it easier to get out. If left in room air temp for half an hour I’ve never had a problem with it being too hard. This would be the easiest way.
