Hello!

I would love some advice on how to get my 21 month old daughter to drink milk! Ever since I stopped giving her the bottle she won’t have milk any other way. I have tried all different cups, tricks, everything but she won’t drink milk from a cup. She loves cheese, as all little ones do and likes yoghurt but won’t eat it all the time, so she is getting calcium in her diet but I would really like to get her to drink milk…. Any advice? Many thanks in advanced!

  • My kids don’t drink milk and never really did once I weaned them. As long as they are getting dairy from other sources – yoghurt cheese etc I wouldn’t worry.

  • You can buy straws with flavouring in them that have less sugar etc. in them that chocolate and other flavour poders you put in milk. She may like at as it will be a novelty. There is a small packet you can buy. A box is a more economical way to buy them and has more flavours.

  • If your child wont drink it offer yoghurt or cheese, some just hate the flavour

  • Use a natural flavouring, she might enjoy a little taste

  • My little one drink with cup using straw.

  • maybe blend some fruits in it?

  • I never liked the taste of it either and still can’t drink it plain to this day. My mum just gave me plenty of your fry and cheese to make sure I was getting a good around of my calcium.

  • My mum said I was the same. When I went of the bottle I refused to drink milk. I still don’t drink Milk now. I cant stand the taste. As long as she is still having dairy there wont really be a problem.

  • I wouldn’t see it as a massive issue as she is on solids. What about other sources of calcium such as cheese, yoghurt or vegetables and fruit high in calcium?

  • how are they going now?

  • i hope its worked out :)

  • Hope you had some success.

  • They can be fussy little munchkins! Mine will only settle with her night bottle, will have water out of a sippy cup, milk and juice out of sippy straw cups and you can’t mix them or she won’t drink it.

  • What did you end up doing?

  • Try her on a straw in a cup, its exciting and she might want to give it a go
