Help… How do I entertain a 1 year old on a 3 hour direct flight?

  • colouring in, or an ipad!!

  • Oh love the buttons and string idea! Thanks heaps

  • Colouring books are great to make the time pass! Good luck!

  • String together buttons of different sizes and colour. Bub will be fascinated with moving them along the string and studying the contours and patterns on each one.

  • Thank you all ladies for taking the time to help me out! I will definitely pack those items and a baby carrier!!

  • That’s a great suggestion! I love the idea of wrapping stuff.. thanks heaps!

  • Thanks, I’ll have a look for the busy/quiet books now! We don’t go until February and I was having trouble remembering what a 1year old would like!

  • New books and colouring books. Wrap them so they get excited and it takes them a bit of time to unwrap them

  • You can buy busy books (or sometimes called quiet books) online. They’re fab for doing quiet activities and are usually soft so perfect for little fingers.

  • Books, colouring material, magnetic games, animals hidden in small containers.. Three hours are not much indeed. Your child will love the new environment, you’ll see!! :-)

  • taking some reading materials or color pen is really helpful . or download some child song on your phone . it works to my.daughter :)

  • 3 hours isn’t too long of a flight. Breast/bottle feeding on take off and landing may help if they’re not being distracted by looking out the window.
1 might be a bit young to be interested in shows like Peppa Pig, but it could be a bit of a distraction.
    Definitely bring snacks!
A baby carrier can be handy too to help with settling on the plane, and carrying luggage through airport.

  • We were lucky enough that it 1 yr old at the time was fed either before or just after takeoff and then they slept. Depends on who you are flying with too as to what they offer in the way of dvd players, kids packs etc. Take some toys, little snacks. You can get up and has a walk around too
