Hello!

Getting my 21 month to eat is starting to become a chore. He will eats at daycare but barely eat much at home (inc weekends). I am at my wits end. I know he will eat if hungry. Do I trust he is old enough to know that he is hungry or full?

  • Have you tried buying different cutters to make fun shapes of food? I always try to make food/snack time fun. You can always hide veggies in foods as well, like nuggets, pastas etc. But I reckon if you try getting shape cutters it will be a lot more exciting for your toddler.

  • Have you had your child check to make sure there isnt a reason for them not to eat? Can you ask the daycare for a list of the foods they offer and try them at home? As a childcare worker we give the children alot of freedom when it comes to eating (they serve themselves with small tongs/spoons) pick where to sit and who to sit next to. Is this something you could try at home?

  • It can be very frustrating. But rest assured, kids will eat when they are hungry. So don’t panic about him starving to death, it just don’t happen. Keep offering him food, it will be taken when hunger strikes
