Instinctively we want to reach for our crying babies. But controlledcrying can help baby self soothe and you have space without holding baby until they fall asleep. Dependent on you. Ensure fed, burped. As wind can cause great discomfort and keep awake. Clean nappy and tired.
Oh this question depends on so many factors. How old is bub, is this new or been an ongoing issue, is bub crying due to pain, hungry or other reasons? Unwell. What type of cry.
Honestly I never let any of my kids cry for long without comforting them. But also worked out what cries – pain, hungry, uncomfortable, tired, needing a cuddle, or crying that quickly turns to grizzlies then quiet as they self settled.
Your question about when to get help I think is answered – if you are questioning wether to get help than I think you should. Trust your mummy instinct with your bubs crying and how you approach it, but if you’re questioning getting help then do it. GP, child health nurse, helpline or baby nurse line……lots of options for you. Good luck.
Oh gosh, how long is a piece of string lol. Depends what you’re trying to achieve and how long you can put up,with it for. I did controlled crying, only once, before he just didn’t stop!
