  • I believe the doctors and midwives monitor the mother and baby and if there are signs of distress, or it seems unlikely a natural birth is possible, then a c-section is arranged.

  • I don’t think there’s a set time. It depends per situation, how you heal, your build, type of delivery condition of yourself and baby, possible complications etc. I had a classical emergency section with my first with a horizontal cut in the outer layers but a vertical cut in the inner layers. Because of this the chance of rupture was far ti big and I couldn’t deliver natural anymore.

  • Occasionally there is risks for yourself or your baby and you may not be able to labour naturally at all or only for a very short time. The staff caring for you will recommend a c-section before performing the procedure or may simply rush you to theatre if there is no time for discussion.

  • There is no set time, it depends on the safety and situation of the baby and mum. The doctors will discuss with you unless there is an emergency situation, you may be able to try natural for hours.

  • I think it really depends on the situation. The midwives will monitor you and baby and if there is anything of concern, they will consider he options, with c section usually not the first.

  • there’s no set time per say. the doctors tell u the best time.

  • I waited 6mths ended up pregnant first shot and it was very traumatic for me through pregnancy to labor (vbac)

  • There are so many factors at play that determine if and when a c-section is necessary. Time is not necessarily the prevailing factor.

  • No set time they monitor both Mum and bub for signs of distress and if there aren’t any they won’t normally intervene.

  • I don’t think there is a set time. And everyone’s circumstances are different. Myself, laboured naturally for 5 hours fully dilated before I had a csection. But then you also hear of others who have laboured for 24hrs and then ended up in csection. Everyone’s experiences are different.
