Hello!

I’m just wondering how much a dentist would cost for a 3 yr old?

  • To be eligible for the CDBS, a child must be: aged between 2-17 years. their family must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.

  • Prices on average are for a comprehensive oral exam $66, scale & clean $118, fluoride treatment $38. For kids it’s free thanks to the government.

  • $89 for me. Kids are free up to the age of 18 thanks to the government

  • We usually charge for a checkup, clean and fluoride. Usually radiographs are not necessary at this age. The charges are usually $100 +. If you are eligible for CDBS this should be covered free of charge.

  • It should be free if you are covered by medicare.
Perhaps call your local dentist & enquire but I am pretty sure it would be free.

  • I paid $84 for my last check up in July. 3 yo should be free, covered under the Govt dental scheme

  • If you have a Medicare card and/or a health care card, dentist checks for children are free. Right up until they turn 18

  • don’t kids get free ones from Centrelink now? Otherwise call around local dentists for best price.

  • usually free with private, otherwise school age is free

  • yeah so you can go public free or use that money to go to a private one

  • We are lucky to get $1000 per child as a centrelink benefit, my little ones go every 6 months as a check up or clean. It would cost $56 (General visit) to $96 (with a clean) otherwise.
Hopefully you can get the $1000!

  • If you get family tax part A then you get up to $1,000 per child covered – otherwise you don’t (unfortunately I don’t). I just took my 2 kids to the school dental and it was $42 each – and that covers everything (e.g .my son needs fissures and they are both getting fluoride). But I’m pretty sure it’s free for pre-schoolers at the school-dentist (those not at school yet) so you shouldn’t have to pay if you went there. Just google the school dentists to find one near you.

  • Please read this for info on Child dental benefits.

  • Dental care should be free for kids under 18 unless you earn over a certain amount a year, which is a really high amount anyway.

  • Yep agree with moms as usual..great advice.
