  • We have only been on one holiday when the kids were like 10 and 12 and have not been on one since due to lack of money and COVID

  • I tend to go for a night or 2 away a few times a year. I prefer short getaways to longer trips away.

  • I tend to take a few short trips a year. I get over being away from home kind of quickly.

  • I’m reluctant to go anywhere overseas right now. There seems to be so much unrest and natural disasters as well as havoc at the airports.

  • We go once every couple of years to Europe where our families live.

  • Once every couple of years or so but we went during the christmas holidays for a few days and decided we would like to try every year – once a year. Family Holidays are such a good experience!

  • I’m not much of a traveller anymore, but would love to go on a European tour in the next five or so years.

  • Not often enough. Would love to go somewhere via the train. (ghan etc)

  • Once a year we plan a family holiday. Like camping or staying in a cabin. And once a year my husband and I have a night or two away together.

  • Not really a holiday, but I visited my son and his family over Xmas. It’s nice and I don’t have to pay for accommodation

  • As a family it has only been in the last 3 years we have been going away and go away, to the same place for the last 3 years and are booked in again this coming Summer.

  • Thanks for your answers,we had a long over-due holiday last year and it was amazing! You do need to get away and enjoy life and have fun!

  • Haven’t been on a proper holiday in years. Holidays with family – especially young children – can often be hard work! Especially when self-catering and coping with stresses of different places, long journeys, noise, illness etc. and trying to fit it into a budget. Some of the most rewarding ‘holidays’ we’ve had as a family are in fact day trips from home; we pick the day, the weather, the activity, the place (new or old and familiar) and everything else to suit what we feel like. Even a few hours away or an afternoon can be very refreshing .. especially when you find enjoyable things to do, like lounge in a spa while the kids swim (if they are old enough to be in the pool alone), watch a movie, go to the beach with everyone something to do and happy. And I’d opt for a good ‘day trip’ at least every school holiday… four times a year, maybe?

  • We also budget for holidays. It is essential to do this to cover all costs.

  • When my hubby was still working he used to say that he feels you should have time away at least once a year. Holidays lets you unwind, relax and recharges you for yet another year.
We are retired now and often take breaks away a few times through out the year.
