Hello!

I feel like I have had a much slower metabolism since having children. I’m just not getting the results I used to from healthy eating and exercise.  I know some foods and teas can help but I just don’t know which ones work? Does anyone have any tips on how to boost your metabolism?

  • Two things. First one is exercise yes, but the exercise you do is important. Walking and yoga won’t do it. You need some sort of weight bearing exercise like lifting weights or bodyweight exercises, done 3-4 times a week. This will help strengthen and build muscle which boosts your metabolism. Secondly, linked to the first is, consume more protein in your diet (meat, fish, eggs, dairy). Protein is harder to digest (particularly compared to sugar) so you get a metabolism boost from consuming it.

  • well the older you get the harder it is to maintain your weight. Exercise helps, weight bearing exercise particularly good. I drink warm water with apple cider vinegar which helps my digestion, which can also help in the weight gain/nutrient retention stakes.

  • Being over 50, it’s been recommended that I use weights regularly to boost my metabolism. Apparently it will be more effective then aerobic exercise, for my age group anyway

  • I use lemon and ginger in hot water with a shake of turmeric. Been using it gif years with no result. I always thought the more you exercised the better your metabolism became

  • Fasting in small amounts can help.

  • Getting up early & also eating chilli in foods are supposed to boost your metabolism.

  • Speak to a naturopath about natural ways maybe?

  • Green tea is meant to be good. So is cayenne pepper and chillis. Having a slice of lemon with ginger in hot water first thing in the morning is meant to kickstart your metabolism. It’s also meant to fe good to detox your liver. I just like the freshness of it

  • To boost your metabolism you need to be eating every 3 hours, not big ,ears just small snacks. Even just a handful of nuts or a rice cake soemthing every three hours means that your body know and registers that it is getting fuel often and it can use accordingly.

  • Eat little but often. The easiest way I did this was never finish my meal in one sitting.. Eat half and finish the rest an hour later. :)

  • eat small amounts throughout the day and this should give it a kick

  • chilli powder, chillies in nice meals

  • Lifting weights is the only way I know that will increase your metabolism and continue to do so even after your work out. I’m in the same boat.
