  • We eat dinner at the same time, follow the same routine – dinner, bath, books, bed. It’s predictable and children like to know what to expect. We aim to have them in bed at the same time and sleeping around the same time. We might spray lavender and dull all the lights in the house. No screens close to bed time. Tizzy Hall’s book helped us with our routines which we started when they were under 1

  • Kids love routine so if you can set up a routine that is achievable and easy to maintain and that of course meets the toddler’s eat, sleep and play needs then the hard work is done. Don’t be hard on yourself if some days the routine falls apart – keep going the next day.

  • Basically try and keep certain times for each part of the day, get the child involved in what the time is and what we need to be doing. Keep in mind nothing goes to plan all the time and it may take a while before it starts going at all to plan. Good luck mumma.

  • I started a sch duke and stuck it out for a good month for it to become habit

  • Be consistent. Kids like consistency. When my daughter was young we loved our routine of bathing, reading together and sleep time. More or less always at the same time in the evening.

  • Start with a morning/evening routine. You will need to get it started and then it is a sequence you follow. Easier said than done. A lot of praise is good. Also rewarding them with something they like is a bonus. This could be a cuddle or even story time.

  • Incentives for adults and children for sticking to a schedule also helps. I make things fun and it really does help with sticking to a routine and getting things done.

  • You can try stick to a routine bug kids don’t always co operate. Start with a list of what needs to be done. Then list it in order of importance. And go from there. Good luck

  • I have a schedule and like to be organised and it does help. Running to a schedule gives everybody time to relax too.
