Hello!

HELP! I accidentally spilt red wine all over my beautiful white fabric couch! I can take the cushion covers off, but the fabric covering the frame isn’t removable. What’s the best way to get the stains out?

  • Salt or bicarb followed with vinegar. I’ve worked with hydrogen peroxide too with quite good effect.

  • Oh the horror! We use salt on red wine then soak it up but that is on the carpets.

  • Add salt then use a paper wipe to soak it up

  • Pop the cushions in Napisan and soak. Repeat if needed. The frame….not too sure. Maybe a paste of Napisan, leaves til dry and brush off

  • Professional would be best, but I have removed red wine from white fabric and white carpet using pink napisan, make a paste and leave it. sponge it off , reapply if needed, let dry and brush off if needed, do not be concerned if the stain goes blue or purple, it is the grapes that do it. I swear by the pink napisan and they also have a carpet cleaner now which should be able to remove it well,

  • Yes, I’d also hire a professional cleaner.

  • hire a carpet cleaner and use it on the couch and hopefully it would come out

  • white wine is supposed to cross out red wine stains

  • I found this site ages ago, and it’s been incredibly helpful to me for all sorts of cleaning information. Here’s the link to their article on red wine …

  • I’ve heard that white wine on red wine will get it out…

  • put bi-carb soda over the stain be generous then spray white vinegar and let it fizz and sit …. then use rolled up pantyhose to wipe clean. you can also sprinkle salt over it … I don’t know how wet or dry it is. but if it hasn’t come out after bi carb and vinegar then put salt on as this will draw the red out. If you have any sunshine in your area and you can get the couch outside do that too

  • Oh No!!!! I would get a professional in for this job. Good luck!

  • Put some Bi-carb soda on it the white vinegar and let it work …

  • goodluck with this one, a hard stain to remove, but I would try the preen carpet stain remover

  • i hope something has worked
