  • What toothpastes did you buy?

  • I think the important thing is not to let them swallow it.

  • I think that the adult toothpaste has too much fluoride in it then the kids one

  • I think it is important. The kids toothpaste is cheaper. :)

  • Rach has all the info. I definitely wouldn’t use an adult toothpaste on my kids, too much fluoride!

  • Yes this is important :)

  • Use the appropriate age toothpaste . as children tend to swallow some of the toothpaste

  • I definitely wouldn’t be using adult toothpaste for little ones as there is a good chance they will swallow a fair bit of it which can cause an upset tummy…

  • even the toothpastes for the kids have all sorts of junk in there thats why i use organic toothpaste or make my own.

  • Benefits r that the kids will use the ones that taste nice compared to the normal ones

  • The kids toothpaste is designed so that it wont be harmful to children if they dont rinse out their mouth properly :)

  • I just use the standard toothpaste. I don’t like the kids ones as they r too sweet

  • A while ago there was only 1 toothpaste on the market that then miss3 would use (white, but age appropriate). In the company’s wisdom, they took it off the market, due to consumer feed back (really from 2-4y.o’s, I don’t think so, anyway). so we had to use gel. she caused such a stink about it, refusing to use it. So she used ours for about 6 months, until she calmed down & more to the point, forgot about it. I used a very small amount & she was fine

  • I think it is important because it will have the right flouride content among other things because children that are young still swallow rather than spit.

  • I was advised by the MCH nurse to use just water and a brush until 18 months, and I understand this has a lot to do with kids this young not understanding how to rinse and spit. After this age it is best to use a kids toothpaste, as the ingredients in it are quite different, and the formulas are a lot milder than adult toothpastes.
