Hello!

I have several dwarf citruses in pots & they are fruiting quite well but we have some lovely citrus butterflies that lay their larvae on them. These caterpillars then proceed to eat leaves until they cocoon up, they don’t really hurt the plant but it looks horrible! Is there any way I can naturally deter these butterflies without killing them or the caterpillars?

  • Eucalyptus oil is a good option, but you can also use lavender, citrus, pine, clove, peppermint, and thyme essential oils. Most flies hate these scents, so the oils will act as a fly repellent.

  • I’ve been starting a veggie garden and have been looking for natural pest deterrents that work. Hope you found something

  • Cut out butterfly shapes of a similar size and hang them around so that they dance in the breeze.

  • Hope you managed to sort out your butterfly problem?

  • Best to talk to someone from a garden centre for advice.
