Hello!

Been on strong antibiotics and now I think I may have thrush. Any quick fixes out there you wouldn’t mind telling me. Thanks so much. This is one embarrassed mum.

  • Apparently cranberry juice is good for this as well but please see your GP for a script to help you

  • Add tea tree oil to a warm bath.
Turmeric is a home remedy for thrush.
Live yogurt can give your probiotics a boost.
    Garlic can help kill yeast.
Coconut is a natural anti-fungal solution.
    Sugar can make thrush worse.
Sitting in a yogurt bath or baking soda bath
You can buy Clotrimazole cream over the counter and use it topically

  • The quickest, safest, most likely to work is a cream from your chemist.

  • It’s not a quick fix, but I used to douche with a watered down solution of white vinegar. I found this worked when medical treatment failed

  • Apparently a douche bath with 30 ml of apple cider vinegar over 3-4 consecutive nights works. I’m lucky enough that I don’t get thrush all that often but a friend of mine swears by this.

  • Natural yoghurt, not sure if you are meant to read or rub it on but something to do with the bacteria.

  • Anti fungal cream down there not overly expensive and works great.

  • Natural Yoghurt. Wear a pad of a night time and put it on. Believe me, I know how you feel. And the natural option is always better than a synthetic one, any day.

  • Don’t think there is any quick fix ,thursh is nasty, but probiotic will help I’m long run

  • Please please don’t be embarrassed.. after a course of antibiotics a lot of woman get thrush. Antibiotics are designed to kill the bad bacteria but unfortunately they also kill off the good bacteria as well. The gut is made up of good and bad flora and after a course of antibiotics you need to restore the balance, so take some probiotics. Also visit the chemist or do the vinegar and yoghurt treatment. The moms have given great advice as usual. All the very best of wishes to you and hoping you are back to tip top health real soon. :-)

  • Short-term there are over-the-counter products you can get (canesten being a readily available one) to help straight away. Also make sure you are on a probiotic like innerhealth for the duration of the antibiotics. Long term, I was also told to cut down on my sugar consumption when I used to get the dreaded thrush quite frequently. This included white bread which I found surprising. Once I cut down on my sugar intake and ate wholemeal or multigrain breads I found I stopped getting it. Best of luck! :)

  • My mother in law told me she gets thrush a lot to school today she’s always used natural plain yoghurt to eat it and she put it down stairs it might sound weird or disgusting but it’s true it does work

  • Don’t be embarrassed. No doctor should ever prescribe antibiotics without also prescribing a probiotic. Go straight to the chemist and get some Inner Health Plus, eat loads of foods with good bacteria (ferments, yogurts). Avoid Yeasts, moulds, fungus and SUGAR.
There are tablets, creams (for internal and external use) for thrush. These all add more problems so its better to avoid other feeders and get on to the probiotics.
    Good luck!
You need to treat it seriously or it will forever reoccur.

  • Try natural yoghurt (apply some like you would the cream, but also eat lots to get the probiotics!) Avoid sugary foods, especially soft drinks. Avoid wearing jeans, and only wear cotton underwear. Try to sleep without underwear to allow some airing out, since thrush thrives in warm, moist environments.

  • I’ve tried it and it functioned. I inserted a probiotic in vagina (the all capsule) before going to bed. I did it for some days, till the thrush was completely gone, plus one extra day. Cheap and efficient!
