Hello!

When I cook my mince it always has lumps in it, despite cooking it on a lower temp and ‘chopping’ while cooking it? Please help!

  • Use a whisk! Honestly, as weird as it sounds, it works.

  • maybe try buying a better quality mince. i find the leaner the mince the less clumping you will get

  • It does make a difference which mince you buy. There are some which are more ‘pureed’ than others.
I use a spatula, not a spoon, to break it up.

  • I use a fork to mash it while it’s cooking or a wooden spoon. You have to keep mashing continuously while its cooking though, don’t quit. Works for me

  • I used a wooden spoon to break up the bits as its cooking – works a treat.

  • For me, breaking up with a wooden spoon usually works? Just mix a lot while cooking (though not excessively so as not to allow the mince to to not brown effectively)

  • Hope some of the tips have helped with your cooking.

  • Use a fork to stir through it as it is cooking; seems to break up the mince easily.

  • there sure are some good answers. i never worry about it too much and just break it down as i go

  • I just use a wooden spoon and kinda mash it up while it starts to cook. Seems to work for me.. Also i use the 5 star mince though, maybe that makes a difference?

  • If you constantly chop it with the wooden spoon this should not happen. The meat gets lumpy when you just leave it while cooking.

  • A wooden spoon works a treat!

  • there are some good comments here

  • I find that the leaner (lower fat content) mince is less lumpy than fattier versions.

  • I always heat my olive oil before adding the mince and chop with a woodern spoon have never had lumps.
