Hello!

Is rice cereal just for breakfast or I can give it to bub for dinner as well? Bub is 5 months now. Thanks

  • I don’t think there’s really any limit. You could even use it as a base for dinner and mix through some pureed veg.

  • I used to feed the kids once day on rice cereals and so convenient . I still remember the baby picture at the front . It is best to give them variety of food anyway and you can mix them with fruits such as mashed banana , soft pears etc …

  • It’s more then ok to feed cereal for breakfast and tea, as long as it’s not a regular thing cos bub needs lots of variety in his daily menu to be healthy. You could even mix fruit and veg into the cereal for tea

  • If give bub fruit or veg once and rice cereal the other.

  • I’d forget the rice cereal and add pureed carrot, pumpkin, potato or beef and chicken broth. Yes offer 3 times a day but dont worry if they dont take it every time.

  • There’s nothing wrong with rice cereal, but it really is nothing special. Why don’t you try mixing it with stewed apple/pear and/or pureed pumpkin/carrot/beetroot. You can keep the rice cereal with it if you are worried about taking away fibre, but it wouldn’t make a lot of difference. Its all a matter of introducing new foods, but two times a day is great at that age. :)

  • I would try and mix it up. I mean there would be nothing wrong with having it twice a day but maybe try and introduce something else?

  • it would be okay to give it to him more than once on some days, but mixing it up would probably give him better nutrition overall. try some pureed vegies. good luck.

  • Its ok

  • thank you so much for your answers. i just give bub rice cereal once a day, and some pureed veggies during dinner

  • Agreed at 5 months breastmilk should be the primary food, if bub is interested at dinner times maybe let them have a little pureed vegetables or a little of whatever you are having

  • its not just for breakfast- its a recommended first food, but at 5 months i would probably only give it once a day- after milk/formula.
