Hello!

At what age did you move your child to their own room? My youngest still sleeps in our bed but she is a very restless sleeper so I am considering moving her to her own room and trying to keep her sleeping in the cot. I feel like she is restless because of us. Did your baby sleep better once they moved to their own room? I worry she is tired all the time because she isn’t having good quality sleep.

  • 10 months. First in bassinet then cot. Moved cot around 10 months.

  • 3 months for my first. I couldn’t sleep wth her noise

  • My daughter was 3 months old because I could not sleep with all her noises. I was better off for it and she was only in the next room

  • My daughter is 5y.o she still sleeps in my room not with us but in her own bed i think 7 years is the best age to separate her room

  • I had my daughter in a bassinet in our room for the first couple of weeks but never in our bed . I found she disturbed my sleep too much as every little noise she made woke me up. I slept better when she was in her own room . I did the same with my son, except for the first few weeks he was in the study so he didn’t disturb my daughter. We didn’t have the luxury of separate bedrooms for them when they were little.

  • I moved my daughter i to her own room at about 7 months old. I had her cot in our room for about 6 weeks before I was happy enough to move her into her own room and she honestly does sleep better and so do I. There is no hard and fast rule so do what you feel comfortable with and don’t let others tell you what you and bub should or shouldn’t be doing at what age.

  • Possibly you could insist on her sleeping in her cot first. Or move her cot into another room nearby. You try giving her something that “smells” like you or her Dad. I minded a baby overnight one night and he wouldn’t settle until he had something that he could smell his Mum on. He was sound asleep within 5 minutes. I think my cousin put her 2nd baby in his own room when they came home from hospital.
