Hello!

How do I get my 13 mo wriggle bug to stay put for a nappy change? He is now rolling over and standing up as soon as I get the nappy off, and poo ends up everywhere. He also runs away if I want to put clothes on him. I try to be as entertaining as possible but it’s not cutting it.

  • With my daughter I could bribe her with a phone my little boy, not so much.
I buy organic lollipops and finger snacks so I give him one of those to keep him occupied and his little belly full at the same time!

  • Try something like a small book, or a mobile over your change station.

  • I agree that distraction is the key. Make sure you’re prepared and have everything ready and yes you will get quicker and more experienced with this.

  • Basically you can’t get him to stay put…it’s a fact of life. Just be as quick as possible, some friends said that pull ups helped them . I never went that route, I just managed to get quicker, or started putting it on when he was standing up or lying on his stomach.

  • At the wriggle stage my son was unbearable lol so i made the best decision of my life and changed to huggies nappy pants!

  • Be as quick as possible! Keep special toys specifically for nappy change times to hold their interest

  • A fun toy to hold during nappy changing. Sing songs are a good one. Like twinkle twinkle to encourage actions with fingers, rather than wriggling. Whisper. Then it will catch their attention as changing it.

  • Try giving him a small picture book – this kept my kids lying still.

  • totally part of it, maybe sing to him.. nothing worked for mine, just had to roll with it :)

  • I found pull ups with tear off sides so much easier. It will get easier, its one of those stages.

  • Oh the joys I have an active one too. Try everything, get super ready so it’s nappy off wipes that can be just thrown into wherever you put them not try to place them and fresh nappy ready to go, distractions, explanations, toys they love (although only easy to clean ones incase they shove them in the poo). Go away from any distractions or other things they’re interested in. Hopefully it works sometimes it does for me sometimes not but you can only try.

  • Be patient and let him know it’s time for happy change and we need to be still

  • My grandson loves “ Blippi” so my daughter lets him hold her phone and watch for a while .. works most of the time!

  • I used to just have everything ready to go, hold bub down while taking the nappy off and wiping, putting the new one on etc. Well once baby is clean it’s okay if they roll over. It takes practice haha

  • Happy pants were my saviour. Otherwise I’d do it just before naps when they’re more tired or less active. Try to have him hold a toy or have him occupied with cartoons or something he can look at
