Hello!

Help! My son is having the worst tantrums when I try to change his nappy. To the point where he is kicking and throwing his arms around which hurts me, but also makes changing him unsafe! I have tried distracting him, singing, hanging a mobile above his head, putting moisturiser on his hand, but nothing seems to be helping. I am hoping other MoM’s have some tips of words of advice as I obviously need to change his nappy, but am really struggling. :-) Thank you!

  • I usually give my baby a toy or something to take his mind off the nappy change!

  • Ok this was last year and I hope he has grown out of it now …. but for future reference you could have changed his nappy while he is still in his cot ….

  • Give a toy or something new for baby, it works for me

  • I give ours a toy to play with to keep her distracted and try to change like I’m going for the record

  • do it in front of the tv…

  • Maybe a distraction like a toy to play with that is only theirs to play with at nappy change time so they start to look forward to it

  • Never had this problem as our first would scream until his nappy was changed, he could not stand even having a minute spot/drop on his nappy, at one stage 25 nappies a day, lol. I had to be quick changing the nappy as he was capable of letting forth another spray, found throwing a hand towel over the nappy area, a sanity saver.

  • How is he going now?

  • How is he going now?

  • how is it going now?

  • i hope it has gotten better

  • I know how this feels – going through it now and have copped a few good kicks! Nothing works all of the time so it is a constant rotation of things: toys, different toys, noise, crinkly things, pull ups, not pull ups, peek a boo, songs, quiet! It is starting to wear me out!

  • Hope you found the answer you were looking for.

  • What did you end up doing?

  • Maybe use pull-ups to help changing easier
