Hello!

Has anyone experience their babies/kids change in personality after recovering from a bad disease or after being very ill? Any advice is appreciated!

  • I think any bad disease can be seen as a traumatic experience and can potentially impact the development of our children

  • I’d see my GP if I was concerned about it.

  • I would suggest seeing a homeopathic or naturopath, that can help to find out why, it maybe something simple as the gut bacteria has been upset, this can effect moods greatly.

  • A lot also depends on how they were treated – some children develop a sense of entitlement because they had so much attention during their illness. It can be useful to see a psychologist so that you can keep the balance between giving them the care and attention they need and fostering a sense of independence and hope for the future.

  • good question, thanks for posting

  • My niece has been put on medication to help with her lifelong Illness, she is 5 and she has started having the biggest tantrums we have ever seen since started the new meds. She is more on edge now and gets very upset very quickly. We now have to watch what we say around here more than ever. Lots of reassurance helps too because it can be very confusing for them

  • It depends on the initial illness, the treatment and the recovery. All experiences impact on children and adults. It can take quite a while for children and adults to be ‘themselves’ again?

  • a lot of zinc gets used up in recovery and trying to get through illness. Low zinc can cause a zinc copper imbalance and affect moods and behaviour. hard to explain it all but perhaps google zinc usage in illness or something similar. Then I’d see a naturopath for guidance with it. good luck.

  • I think all experiences change children, Spending time in hospitals can certainly make them consider themselves a little differently. I guess a lot will depend upon the type of condition they had too

  • I think if kids get sick, they do change for a while, they get very dependant and whingey. That will get better though

  • They can become more clingy because we fuss about them more when the are sick, but shouldn’t take them long to get back into routine. Although I guess it also depends on how long they were sick for.

  • More information would be helpful to help you more

  • In what way has your child changed?? More quite or showing signs if frustration? Perhaps they are still not feeling 100%

  • there are some good comments here

  • might still feel a little sick or just not 100% give them time and they will become they selfs again
