Is plastic or glass better for storage? I sometimes worry that my plastic storage containers aren’t that clean – some of them have white patches on them and some are a bit stained from tomato based sauces. I put them in the dishwasher – does this mean they come out clean or should I throw them out and replace with glass?

  • Best to wash with dishwasher if you can

  • Some plastics stain. I always wash in dishwasher to make sure.

  • I have found that some plastic containers are better than others. I have found that when I use my Pyrex glass ones cleaning is a breeze.

  • i prefer glass over plastic

  • Some plastics can taint the taste of the food too.

  • I always find glass is cooler than plastic

  • I think they are both as good as each other, though I just like the feel of glass!

  • i prefer glass. plastic corrodes over time when put in the dishwasher due to the caustic in dishwashing tablets/powder

  • I prefer plastic and the dishwasher would kill all bacteria.

  • Hey if washed in dish washer they are fine. I use both. And some of mine is as old as Adam. Some of mine is stained. But as long as they seal and you know there clean it does not matter . I prefer plastic for the cupboards and glass for the fridge as I can see what’s in it…

  • I must admit I prefer plastic as I find seals better however mason jars are good. I also find plastic easier to clean & no breakages but as long as it has an airtight lid & seals properly either would suffice.

  • I prefer glass to plastic as you can give it a good clean

  • Glass is probably better but for ease we use plastic ones… ones they look a tad shabby and the surface rough out they go though.

  • Glass will always win over plastic. Even the BPA plastics will leach toxins. I realized this must be another reason why I don’t like Tupperware parties.

  • if you are washing in a dishwasher i wouldnt worry at all! its nice n hot and kills any germs. id also be opting for BPA free containers. :)
