Hello!

The plugholes and baskets in my sink are quite stained (Like a tea colour). Is there any tips other mums might have to get rid of the stains and bring out the shine?

  • To clear & clean your plughole, add a couple of teaspoons of baking soda to your plughole and follow it with a cup of white vinegar. The solution will work together to dissolve blockages and clear & clean your plugholes so that your drains can work properly once again.

  • I had the same problem and used a scourer and hot water and dish washing liquid.

  • Try making a paste of bicarb soda and a little water. Smear it on the stains, let it sit for as long as you like, and give it a good scrub. Repeat if you don’t get desired result

  • I use bi-carb with a bottle brush. When it looks good I then brush with an old toothbrush using bleach. Spotless in no time. Plus it leaves it smelling fresh again.

  • What interesting comments read on this! Thanks

  • A good scrub with vinegar and bicarbonate soda.

  • bicarb and lemon juice – make a thick paste, leave it on for a bit, then rinse off – perfection. works on stainless sinks and draining boards too

  • i would try bleach and see how you go.

  • Exit mould works great

  • Bleach, Jiff, Gumption are all products that have worked for me and a good scourer. When I use bleach I put the plug in, pour some bleach and leave it for a while.

  • Gumption or a cream cleanser and an old toothbrush works well

  • A good soak with some bleach or vinegar may be more food environment friendly

  • metal polish – and really bicarb often acts like a metal polish

  • I make a paste with a little bicarb soda and white vinegar, and use an old tooth-brush, and it brings a shine up on nearly anything. Keep old tooth-brushed, coz they are so usefull for cleaning fiddly items and areas.

  • Bicarb and vinegar again! It really can clean everything!
