Hello!

Does anyone have any tips or remedies for a super itchy tummy in late pregnancy? With my first it was slightly itchy but no where near as bad as it is this time.

  • I went to the GP and got a script for a cream

  • It is itchy because it is stretching, don’t scratch try a nice warm shower or rub in some fit e cream

  • I’m thinking it may be itchy due to the skin stretching. Lots of moisturising would be my suggestion, avoid soap and detergents. Provably deodorants and perfumes too. Olive oil is a brilliant moisturiser. I had no itching and no stretch marks and I think it’s all thanks to olive oil

  • lots of nourishing lotion for your skin. Even a olive oil would help.

  • I had the same problem with my 3 pregnancies and it got worse as time went on and the stretch marks got worse too! I found what worked for me was making up a paste by adding warm water to bicarbonate soda in a medium mixing bowl until it was about the consistency of runny glue (takes half to a full small packet of bi carb), then smeared it over my bare tummy in the bathroom just before a shower or long soak in the bath-waited for about 5mins or so for it to dry off (try reading a good book or magazine with the heater going if its cold!) Then gently rinse it all off in nice relaxing warm water. Im not sure why its so soothing, as it not only gets rid of the itch but as a bonus leaves your skin soft and smooth! Another way of doing this is add bicarbonate soda to your running bath water as per packet suggested uses and have a long, warm, soothing soak to the same effect! I haven’t tried it, but another remedy that my friend said works, is putting Rolled Oats in an old stocking foot, thats been cut off at the ankle, then tieing it off then holding it under the running bath tap or rubbing it gently over your tummy/skin instead of soap in the shower until its like Oatmeal Milk with the water running through- apparently it is very soothing for many itchy skin complaints! Bought products from the chemist that I found to be good were Bepanthen Cream/Ointment (great for babies bottom too!) and after delivery BioOil was excellent for fading off my bad stretchmarks!!!

  • it’s because the skin is stretching. try some coconut oil, bio oil or cocoa butter.

  • Palmers cocoa butter or coconut oil

  • I used paw paw cream!!

  • I used Bio Oil and paw paw cream

  • My niece swore by a mixture of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, and also coconut oil. She was driven mad by the itching, and by alternating these two remedies, she completely got rid of the problem.

  • yes! coconut oil is superb!

  • Coconut oil is fantastic. I used it when my belly was stretching and getting itchy and it stopped stretch marks too

  • What did you end up using?

  • did anything end up working?

  • Hope you managed to find something that helped.
