Hello!

My son has mouth ulcers – does anyone have an effective remedy? My little boy just wipes the cream off that my Dr suggested

  • Gargling with salt water might help.

  • Although it stings like crazy to start with – vegemite is awesome for ulcers

  • Coconut Oil and avoid sugar while its healing.

  • I get mouth ulcers either time of the month or in stressed mode. The best solution my old pharmacist used to say is dissolve half a tsp of salt water in warm water . Gargle the infected area for 30 secs to 1 min if you can . after a day or so he should feel much better and eventually ulcer will subside . The callous way is to press some salt onto the ulcer then rinse out with watr , but he wont like that as it will sting .

  • I have suffered with mouth ulcers since I was little sometimes will get 2 or 3 at a time :( sm33 is really good…stings when applied but helps to numb the ulcer.

  • Coconut oil works really well. Clears them up really quickly.

  • I’m sure if you continue to use the prescribed cream, you will eventually see an improvement. Even if he seems to be wiping it all off, some will be remaining and having an effect I’m sure.

  • I find a salt water gargle helps me when i get them. Its a little painful but it works

  • I find vegemite works great – it sometimes does sting a little bit but then starts to feel better and heals quickly.

  • Swish salty water around the mouth every few hours.

  • I don’t know of anything to help. sorry

  • We’ve used Bonjela when our Master 3 has had ulcers, and lather on Lucas Paw Paw Ointment on his lips to help keep everything supple. We also encourage him to drink plenty of water throughout the day. It’s hard when they’re little and do not understand that the creams and ointments we are putting on the sore spots will actually help rather than harm. Hope your little one is all better now.

  • we use S26 ulcer solution

  • Wipe with honey or coconut oil can reduce the pain. Hope it can help.

  • I found that Bonjela has more of an anaesthetic effect than SM33, but it could be difficult if your little boy keeps wiping the gel off. Swishing salt water around in the mouth will sting, but will help the ulcer to heal.
