Hello!

Should I remove ingrown toenails or not? – Hubby inherited ingrown toenails and has suffered for as long as I can remember and nothing has worked. I’m concerned now that my toddler has weird shaped big toe nails which looks like will turn into an ingrown nail. Would other mums consider having the nail completely removed? Thanks

  • Definitely seek advise from a doctor.

  • I dont think you have to completely remove the nail, just keep it trimmed

  • there are some good comments here

  • What did you end up doing with the toenail?

  • A doctor would have the best advice :)

  • It sounds a bit drastic to me – have you asked the doctor or health nurse

  • What did you end up doing?

  • what did you end up doing?

  • Did you remove them yourself or seek a doctor?

  • What are you going? Did you end up seeing a Specialist?

  • I had ingrown toenails in both my big toes, i left them for over a year and tried to manage them myself. Eventually i went to the podiatrist and was so glad i did as the nail on on of them had started to attach itself to the bone, so i could of lost my toe if i hadn’t gone to the podiatrist. So i highly suggest that he goes to the podiatrist.

  • I’d check with your GP – might need to be referred to a podiatrist.

  • Go see a foot specialist or even your doctor for some professional advice.

  • Don’t mess with it. Go see your doctor or an authorised Podiatrist.

  • I would see a podiatrist as if it does need to be treated, they can cut and manage it correctly.
