  • I always desex my dogs if I am not planning on breeding

  • Definitely. There are too many dogs that need rescuing for people to keep breeding their dogs.

  • As a former Vet nurse I cannot recommend enough desexing your dog.

  • One of ours is and one isn’t. The female isn’t desexed but we plan to, I was worried about getting her desexed when she was young as I didn’t want to tear the stitches.

  • Unless you’re planning to become a breeder, then yes. It means you won’t be adding to the number of puppies in need of homes (there are so many in shelters or abandoned) and it’s better for the dog’s health.

  • In many places it is a necessity that dogs must be desexed – maybe check regulations?

  • Hubby & I had a moral issue with desexing our dog, but we knew he would have time with other dogs and didn’t want a surprise to deal with.
Keep in mind, if you do breed, you have to register as a breeder, ensure they all have their vaccinations, worming and microchip done prior to selling.

So, up to you. As cute as puppies are, there are usually plenty of dogs needing adoption everywhhere

  • Depends on what you want. My friend deliberately didn’t desex her dog and has regularly the joy of a litter of puppies which she sells.

  • Yes definitely you don’t want an unwanted litter.

  • Absolutely, regardless of where you live or whether you have a male or female dog. There’s way too many unwanted, unloved, abandoned, neglected dogs. Any responsible dog owner would de sex

  • Yes, in my idea he should. And I’ve always heard that around six months of age is the best time to desex because they suffer less.

  • Dogs should be desexed regardless of location – country or city.

  • Unless you’re planning to breed him/her, yes.
