Hello!

I’ve recently been diagnosed with shoulder bursitis. I was told it’s at least 3-6 months before it will be better. Can any mums offer advice on dealing with the pain? It’s seriously so bad sometimes, I just crumple and cry. Today I very nearly passed out. I’m only 3 months into diagnosis, not sure how I’ll cope with another 3.

  • Have you asked about the possibility of quaterzone injections?

  • Thank you all for your suggestions. I have been told about the steroid injection, but thought I would let it heal naturally, now I’m unsure if I can go much longer. It’s all good until I slip, I mostly manage to not aggravate it, but still have slip ups……and that’s agony! Physiotherapy wasn’t mentioned to me to help heal, I have a dr appt coming up to discuss results of my ultrasound on shoulder, I will be asking more questions at this visit

  • Mine’s been going on for over a year but definitely easing up (thank god). I found Magnesium oil offered some relief, but best was not to use it too much and know my limitations. There were a couple of times I forgot about and reached out to grab a ball or something similar and nearly passed out from the pain.

Magnesium rubbed onto the shoulder did help but unfortunately it’s just time.

  • Make sure you’re seeing a specialist physiotherapist to help with recovery. You might want to consider a second opinion if you are not seeing any recovery.

  • my husband has one in his shoulder – really limits his movement – when he is resting he was told to ice it, he also had a steroid injection and that has helped immensely – definitely ice it when you can – maybe work out how to tie an ice pack to the area so you can still do some things with your other arm for a bit. I would also recommend nurofen rather than panadol as nurofen helps with inflammation

  • as the other person said a steroid injection can help. the other option is to visit a good sports physio as they can use some of their approaches to assist with managing what is causing it and with the inflamation

  • Can you have a steroid injection into your shoulder? I had bursitis in my elbow. I had one injection it helped immensely.

  • I have prepatellar bursitis and I’m afraid I have no tips. It’s almost impossible to bend or lean on my knee with a toddler and newborn. I’m probably making it worse, but im just trying to get on with it.
