  • My window covering of choice is good heavy curtains. They keep the warmth in during winter, the heat out during summer and block light when daylight savings kick in. Plus they’re easy to clean

  • whatever is easiest for you to clean.

  • Venetian Blinds look lovely but the cleaning is horrendous. I started out with every window in the house had venetian blinds. Now only my kitchen has, why do I still have one? I don’t know. I think it is because my mum had them when I was a child and its a familiar thing. But this lot is my definite last. Heavy drapes are good especially on large hoops and rods. They keep out the heat in hot states and the warmth in in cold states. You can shake them and brush them down, dust them, even vacuum them. Wash them once or twice a year. If my venetians die before me, then I will get kitchen drapes also. love to all Lyn

  • Thanks for your tips on blinds – we are in the market for new ones.

  • We just put roller blinds (similar to the old holland blinds), they are cost effective and come in a great range of colours and fabrics.

  • Oops! auto correct – changed Roman to roam – should be Roman blinds! :)

  • The Roam blinds in your photo look quite lovely!

  • I have vertical blinds too, but I don’t like them at all. They came with the house and replacing them all would be too much money for now, but I’d prefer to have some roman blinds like these ones.

  • We have vertical blinds, pretty tough & easy to clean. Ours are 5 years old & not one has ever broken.

  • Whichever you choose, if you have small children around, make sure the cords are way out of reach
