My kids mostly gave non-verbal cues anyway when they needed to go so it was just a matter of noticing these signs which can be hard when you’ve got a busy day! Persistence really is key though and both of my kids were completely different! My son responded well to a sticker chart and visual tracking of rewards and started with a potty. My daughter couldn’t care less about sticker charts and outright refused to sit on a potty so went straight to trying with a toilet seat and steps lol… I also made a big fuss of when they were successful and kept prompting during the day because kids often get too involved in their games to even notice they need the toilet at first.
