  • I used pads for the bleeding that happens right after giving birth as its recommended. I breastfed so it was a few months before I had a period, but I was back to tampons by then with no hassles

  • Good responses here. I think once periods return to normal.

  • I know this is an old question but for others who may want to know I was told after your 6 week check. Isn’t it a shame that so many of us need them so soon?

  • I was told after your periods return to normal. But worth checking with your Dr

  • check with doctor, but not recommended as it can cause toxic shock syndrome which can kill you in hours, as it sets up an infection, basically after having a child you want your uterus to drain, not be clogged up with a plug!!! so as distasteful as you may find it, it is only a few weeks and worth putting up with for your health.

  • Check with your Dr at your 6 week check up, but 6 weeks is the normal time providing there are no complications.

  • I think it was around 6 weeks, I didn’t have to worry though because I didn’t need them until 6 months!

  • I basically used them after I ran out of maternity pads lol.

  • there are some good comments here

  • At your 6 week check up ask your doctor, he will tell you if it is okay.
