Hello!

My husband and I want to write our wills and I need a starting point- any suggestions? Are there any websites that have templates?

  • If it’s just a straightforward will where you leave everything to your partner and then your children, then I believe the will kits you can buy will suffice. If it’s more complicated, it’s best to see a solicitor.

  • I would go and see a lawyer. I just think it’s too important and it needs to be done by a professional.

  • Your local Post Office has do your own wills. I got mine free when I signed up for life insurance. I think they cost about $20-$30

  • My partner and I need to get our wills done too. I’m planning on just googling ‘Australian will template’ and drafting up something and then going to a solicitor for the formalities. It’ll be an expense that we have to save for but I’m not a legal professional and I want to make sure that the will is correct and doesn’t cause unnecessary headaches/ costs for my beneficiaries when I’m gone. Better to be safe than sorry.

  • I believe Newsagents and similar places sell will kits; maybe check your local.

  • NO, pay a few dollars and go to a solicitor, there are to many pitfalls if you get it wrong, get quoted from several solicitors, many do 1st visit free, once done it does not cost much to update every few years.

  • Ive been meaning to do this with my husband. Thank you to those mentioning about finding will kit at post office. Those will kit tht are found at post office are the same you do at the solicitor?

  • You can pick up a “Do It Yourself will kit” from your local post office

  • yeah i haven’t even thought of this

  • You can buy will kits from newsagents – but I’d really suggest this is worth paying a lawyer.

  • you can get a pack from the post office which would be a good starting point

  • be careful writing your own will if you have assets and a large familh

  • go to the Post office and get a pack from there

  • You can buy diy will kits.. They are quite easy to follow.

  • Yes you can get the kits to do it yourself from the post office.
