Hello!

Can anyone recommend weight loss programs that work? I need to lose 40 kilos and have so far tried Weight Watchers, Optifast & Lite N Easy with no luck or success. What has worked for others?

  • Maybe start by making short term goals in terms of weight loss. I found that aiming to lose 5kg at a time rather than looking at the bigger picture was a lot more helpful than just going oh…I need to lose x amount. That really got me down. Weight Watchers has been the only thing that helped me as I’m unable to do much exercise due to other health problems.

  • I completely resonate with you on this….I know a few people have mentioned Michelle Bridges but this program needs you to exercise 6 days a week. It’s just not possible for me with kids/work etc. And no….it’s not an excuse! What was it that didn’t work with weight watchers? For me, it’s all motivation! I’m just not in the right mind set at the moment.

  • Different programs; suit different people. Make sure you find one that works with your lifestyle; time, cost and food preparation.

  • and also i think it comes down to preparation and buying wisely and keep only health snacks around. don’t forget to move!

  • these are really good tips
    thanks mums

  • I am having success with Lose Baby Weight which can be found at http://www.healthymummy.com.au. I love the meal plans and exercise sessions that are all set out. It is all so manageable even though I have 6 kids including a set of triplets and a 4 month old. I have just started 2 weeks ago and have lost 2.7kg. One of the most surprising benefits has been a new interest in cooking as the recipes are not only easy but delicious. This is the first time in 14 years that I have respected myself enough to do this just for ME. The support from the girls from Healthy Mummy has really contributed to this.

  • I lost all my baby weight quickly with Michelle bridges – as long as you stick to the motivational podcasts etc you’ll be fine.

  • I have so far lost over 5kgs and have done it the long hard way but it’s the best I have ever felt. I have an app on my phone called My Fitness Pal, which I have found very beneficial. You can actually scan barcodes and work out your portion size, and see how many calories you have consumed, how much exercise you’ve done and you add how much water you’ve consumed. It’s all about changing the way we think. I still allow myself one small things to indulge in. I make sure it’s portion controlled and less than 100 Calories. I have cut out soft drink altogether. I didn’t like water at first but now I add a few ice cubes, sometimes mint or lemon and lime slices. For exercise I refuse to join a gym I get shy around others but youtube and some apps you can download for exercises. Start out slow, buy some weights (Dumbells) and everyday increase the intensity by a little bit. Don’t cut everything out at once because it will make u fall off the wagon. And if you do, don’t give up don’t leave it til the the next day. Pick yourself up and move ahead instantly. I’ve had really bad days but I won’t give up. I need an operation and don’t want to go under the knife being so large I’m really scared

  • Start of with increase in exercise then start adjusting your diet slowly. Calorie books are great. Keeping a food diary is a good tool to keep you on track and have someone support you.if your having a bad day reach out to them instead of the chocolate good luck

  • I did Michelle Bridges 12WBT and it was fantastic for me to learn about factors with weight loss, mind set, planning etc.

  • I stopped all programmes and pretty much eat healthy for myself. I bough a calorie book and pretty much everything I eat I jot down calories and make sure not to exceed my daily limit in order to lose weight, that with combined exercise has been wonderful for me. good luck x

  • Overall health! You need to look at the types of food that you are eating :) get rid of all the processed foods in your life! I’ve lost 30kg but just moving my body and nourishing my belly with good foods. It can be done :) I lost my weight after having my daughter and smashed it off in 7months. It’s a lifestyle change, not a program. The #1 most important thing is to WANT to change and to commit to your decision for your long term health and wellbeing :)

  • First I would go and see your doctor, maybe they can give you something to kick you off. As you have tried a few things I would start again slow. Maybe just start walking 3 times a week and change your diet slightly, no sugar in coffee etc…. small steps will get you there!!! Good Luck

  • I’ve been the same as you. Tried everything possible. Then i discovered michelle bridges 12wbt and it’s a really great program. you can select different stages eg weightloss, pregnancy, maintenance and you get a meal plan, a grocery list, exercises, mindset videos. If you stick to it, you can do it. I actually featured a wonderful girl on my blog who started 12wbt 15 months ago and has lost 70kg

  • im a personal trainer and get this question all the time. some weightloss programs work for somepeople others it doesnt we are all different what i suggest is when you are food shopping perimeter shop at the shops meats veggies fruits bread dairy and missed all processed foods if your buying packaged food read lables if the is alot of numbers and word you cant say dont eat it. then exercise 5 times a week for 30-60minutes drink 3L water daily and thats the basic stuff my dear. it takes dedication and is hard work but keep to it and you will achieve results :)
