What is the best way to sanitise chopping boards and surfaces? I always worry about bacteria from contact with things like raw meat – would love to know what other mums do to keep their kitchen safe.

  • Hot soapy water,antibacterial wipes are expensive.

  • spray anti-bacterial on your bench when needed, wipe down regularly with warm soapy water, use different cutting boards and separate knives for meat, fish and vegetables. Wipes are handy, quick and easy to use as are paper towels.

  • I have the Joseph Joseph chopping board and knife set that helps you not mix raw meats with veggies etc.

  • Some good advice there below.

  • Clean as you go, scalding hot water & lots of detergent!

  • I often use a plate for chopping meat, particularly chicken which I cut with scissors. My plastic chopping boards are pretty much used for veggies only and go through the dishwasher.

  • I have one board for meat and seafood and another for everything else. I believe that it helps reduce contamination and supports good food hygiene.
