Hello!

Hi, is anyone else dealing with or has dealt with anal fissures after giving birth? Does anyone  have any tips, tricks or advice about healing them? Thanks

  • I had a surgery done after giving birth and it was all good, but then I had a surprise pregnancy and it came back all again. I believe the only way to fix it is to have a surgery. Good luck!

  • Yes, I was prescribed a cream and advised to eat a fibre supplement

  • I got a cream from the chemist – it was nearly $50! Scheriproct and some fibre granules to add to food

  • Lots of fluids and high fibre foods to soften your stools as much as possible, making them easier to pass without causing more damage

  • My first comment is to make sure you don’t get constipated. Lots of water, soluble fibre powder either to drink or sprinkle in your cooking, and coloxyl tablets (they’re a stool softener). As for creams, you’ll have to try a few to see what helps you comfort wise, but I haven’t found one that actually helps it to heal. Some advice from a nurse (which I was too chicken to actually try) was to use Vick’s. Great healing properties in that little jar.

  • Such painful things!!! I had them too and hemorrhoids after the birth of my son. I found using sudeocrem or something similar helped a bit when they were sore and bleeding.

  • How did you end up going?

  • i hope its gotten better

  • The things we mums go through. Hope things are working out for you.

  • How are you managing with them now?

  • How are you going, did you find some advice?

  • After about a year it goes away, but everyone is different

  • Some good advice below – hope it has helped.

  • Nice warm salt baths may help with the healing process

  • I got them after all my pregnancies and still have them and nothing really worked for me so unfortunately for me I just put up with them :(
