Hello!

My son is almost 3 and still wearing nappy pants. He does go to the toilet and potty at home but only at request. I praise him and use a sticker reward chart which he likes. At childcare, he seems to enjoy going to the kids’ toilet more than home. Any tips to progress his toilet training?

  • I’d get rid of the nappy pants too. Use pull ups for bed time only. My eldest was over 3 when he was toilet trained and it just clicked. I didn’t push him too early and that worked for us.

  • My little guy is 2.5 years old. Get rid of the nappy pants. We only use them for bedtime. He’s in undies the rest of the day and even at Kindy. You’re doing everything right, but, the nappy pants, I found with my son, inhibited him from progressing. It’s because the wetness is taken away from his skin. And he doesn’t quite understand what the difference is. He needs to conquer day time toilet training before night time. When I was getting our son really into the training. Each day he was dry we would do something new. Like bake something together, go to the park (just the two of us), buy a new set of undies (let him pick), buy a toy. This just shows him, each time he has a whole day with no accidents means it’s great. Then start to draw out the length of time between things. 3 days, 5 days 7 days, 14 days. He’ll get the whole thing and then it’s night time training. You’re doing everything you need to, and it’s great he’s doing really well. My biggest thing is get rid of the pants. Good Luck :)
