Hello!

Trying to plan a family holiday. We usually head overseas (we travel quite alot ) but have never travelled overseas with a baby (mostly worried about immunisations). Our baby is currently 7 months old, travelled well on a plane between Melb and Gold Coast but we would love to head away again before the year is finished. We love Bali. Would love to hear the ideas and experiences of others!

  • I think it’s safe enough to travel oversees with an infant.
Your baby can travel soon after they’re born. Most airlines prefer babies to be at least two days old, but after that, it’s up to you. Bear in mind that your baby will need a passport and, if necessary, a visa. It’s also important to make sure they’re covered by your travel insurance. When your immunisations are up to date, you don’t have to fear. I would seek advice from your travel agency when you feel uncertain.

  • Bali is fairly tourist friendly. Keep away from the seedy side of town. Look up The James Cook Sports Bar, an old school friend of mine and his wife run it

  • Fiji is very family friendly and most resorts are geared towards children.

  • Go advice for any additional travel vaccines would be priority

  • I guess your doctor is the best person to advise on any possible health risks.

  • I took my 6month old to New Zealand and it was great! Air New Zealand were fantastic and it isn’t to far away. I would highly recommend there!

  • Also; read lots of reviews on travel sites about possible destinations. Other travellers can be a good source of information. Always do lots of research and be well prepared for all situations and then have fun!

  • Å GP would be best placed to give advice about immunisations and travel and any other health considerations impacting on an infant when travelling. We have safely travelled in many countries with all immunisations and other health areas addressed. Health insurance is a must when travelling for all of the family.

  • I would definately recommend NZ, or any of the Pacific Islands. Close enough too. Friendly people, lots to see and do and safe for an infant.
