Hello!

Has anyway else had a bad experience with asking work about maternity leave? I have had rude and unhelpful responses when enquiring with my manager and then HR.

Can I go to Centrelink and get the forms I need there or will they still be sent through to my employer?

Are there any other steps I can take to avoid the embarrassment of going to fair work?

Thank you in advance for any help and advice :)

  • I hope you sorted this! Maternity leave is in most agreements- generally a certain amount of unpaid leave. Also look at the return to work policies. Ie lactation breaks if required, part time hours etc

  • Centre link will give you the forms for their parental leave but you will still need to apply through your work. I looked up the companies policy and I had to write a request for the leave. Try that and see how you go but keep records of all of your correspondence with them incase you need it later.
