Hello!

What is the best age for them to have a special drink for a special occasion? I know they have stacks of sugar in them but for a special occasion do you think its okay for kids?

  • I never get fizzy drinks myself, but sometimes at a birthday party my kids were offered a fizzy drink and they would drink it. I don’t have much of a problem with that as it’s not very often

  • My son never drank them, we just had juice or coconut water, much healthier. He never tried coke until he was 10 and now as a teenager does not even drink them. I personally think they are not good for any child, not even as a special treat because why give something unhealthy as a special treat? Get them drinking homemade juices or smoothies.

  • I think whatever age you’re comfortable with them having fizzy drinks on special occasions. There will always be someone who doesn’t agree with you so when you feel comfortable is best.

  • I think at parties are fine , in moderation and followed by plenty of water is good

  • up to you really. i have a friend whose kids have never drunk it (10 and 12 years old) to her knowledge anyway.

  • Cool, Birthdays are special occasions so I might stick with that, something special, something different from juice and water and milk

  • Ok for an occasional treat.

  • The only fizzy drinks we occasionally have in our house for treat is nudie soda. there is no added sugar. Just juice and soda

  • I avoid them as much as possible.

  • Nah my child is 6 years and contemplating whether she should wait a bit longer and stick with watered down juice

  • No, not really. Simply for the amount of sugar in each one I avoid them as much as possible. I guess school age is acceptable if you feel you have to. Please don’t be one of those mums who put it in babies bottle

  • My 8 year old still only has of drinks as a special treat. Theoretically, any time after around 1 – but thats pretty young and at that age its probably best diluted 50/50 with water, it at all.

  • I don’t like the kids having soft drink but my husband has it and so the kids do also. If it was my choice I would give it to them rarely at parties or special occasions only
