I was told that 6 or 7 is the general age that boys use the mens toilets.
I refuse to make a 4 y.o. boy go in the mens toilets, even if his older sister objects.
My 9 yr old had just started to use public toilets with me standing outside and if I feel there is a problem I would go in.
I try to find disabled toilets if possible just so I know he is the only one in there. The world is not trustworthy anymore
At the local swimming pool there is a notice that says boys over 7 cannot use the ladies change area and its toilets. I wonder if that is the age when you have to start using those family toilets or family change areas if you are still unhappy about sending him in alone. I would also say using the ‘disabled toilet’ (is that the right word these days) is also an option in places where there is a ruling. At least you can check that the room is empty and send him in while you wait outside.
My son is 6 and I still take him into the ladies and I really don’t know at what age i’ll stop. Its a little scary thinking about them going into the public toilets on their own
