  • There is no specific age boys or girls SHOULD be toilet trained. Like learning to walk, they differ and do it in their own time. As for how to keep them out of the fridge, you can buy a special fridge latch for example at Bunnings. Alternatively you can place a key lock.

  • Really good answers! It was so interesting reading the comments to this!

  • My son was toilet trained at 20 months. It really does depend on the child tho, they usually let you know when they’re ready for it. My daughter took longer because she took it upon herself to sit on the toilet one day. All by herself with no toddler toilet seat, and she fell in. Quite funny to find her, bottom down, hands and feet up, hanging out if the loo. Put her off tho, for a long time too

  • They will toilet train in their own time. And as for the fridge I wish I knew!!

  • It was the summer after my eldest boy turned 3 for us. There’s no right or wrong age. If they are showing signs of being aware then go with it.
You can buy locks from the hardware store to put on your fridge.

  • Potty training should occur during the child’s third year. Some get it some take a while. Grab some double sided velcro tape from Spotlight. Stick it to the fridge up high and the kids can not open the fridge.

  • Varies. they say boys take longer than girls, but it’s all so individual. Once they are ready, then just go for it.
Regarding the fridge, I don’t think there is an answer. If they want to get in and eat that’s what they are going to do.

  • By the time they start school, kids need to be toilet trained. You can buy fridge locks in the baby section of your local department store.

  • There is no certain age although society likes to think so. He will be ready in his own time, only look into it if he is 5 and older.

  • Hope you managed to find the answer you were looking for.

  • how did you go with keeping him out of the fridge?

  • tie a tea towel to the fridge doors, and good luck with the toilet training

  • Some great suggestions below. Hope they help.

  • I needed both a fridge lock & a safety gate to keep my son from the fridge! He was shocking. My boys were 3 & just 4 when they were finally trained. I had to keep reminding myself that they will do it when they’re ready & to simply ignore the lucky people whose kids were supposedly trained by 18 months

  • You can buy fridge locks which do not damage your fridge Boys are often later in being toilet trained, before 4 years old would be an acceptable time.
