  • Food before one is just for fun. Even if Bub has started solids, milk feeds are a crucial part of their diet. If you wean before one you will need to give formula anyways. I suggest keep going until Bub self weans. There are so many benefits of breastfeeding.

  • Definitely no right or wrong answer. My bub is almost 9 months and I’ve gone back to work. Breastfeeding has been a relatively easy going journey for me, but I’m still thinking of stopping. When he does drink he doesn’t drink for that long (I’m talking like a couple minutes and then he starts trying to sit up and loook around. And if a try to make him drink a bit more I end up getting bitten. Ouch).
he eats solids like a trouper, So I actually wonder whether he needs it sometimes.

  • I don’t think there’s a straight forward answer to that. We all think different, our circumstances are different and that what the baby wants her/himself is different. I breastfed my son the longest till he was 5yrs old, I know some will not agree and that is fine.

  • I know one Mum who breastfed her first baby all feeds until she was 15 months old then gradually cut back to one feed a day. For a few weeks she was able to give her baby a good feed every few days for about a month before she stopped completely. Her baby had a weak immune system which was the main reason she continued breast feeding. The baby when 6 months old was also going to daycare part time while the Mum studied and then got part time work which meant the baby came into contact with various sicknesses

  • Mine was at six months because I wasn’t getting enough milk in. I had to put my babies on formula earlier than I would have liked to.

  • I did till 12 months

  • Once a Bub on solids then milk supplements diet and not full diet. One years I stopped as she just wasn’t satisfied and waking at night. A bottle gave more milk and satisfaction. Was comfort drinking. Moving forward was great for us both once she accepted bottle.

  • When you and/or bub feels it is right. My first, I breastfed until 22 months. My 2nd is almost 12 months, and honestly I want to start weaning her sooner this time around. I’ve already had enough, so will be starting to wean bit by bit after she turns 1.

  • It is completely up to the mum and bub! Everyone’s breast feeding journey is different!
For me I stopped around 6 months with my 2, 1st time because we wanted to start trying for bub number 2 and second time because I was struggling with supply, I would have kept going otherwise!

  • When you and your child are ready to stop! There’s no right or wrong. It is completely up to you.
