Hello!

My husband and daughter both suffer from smelly feet syndrome. I have tried using odour eaters in their shoes and spraying weekly with glen 20, but I am wondering what else I should be doing.

  • Prepare a bowl or tub of warm water and dissolve one-half cup of Epsom salts in it. Soak the feet for 10-20 minutes and then dry the feet thoroughly. Add 2 parts warm water and 1 part vinegar (apple cider or white vinegar are both suitable) to a tub and soak the feet for 15-20 minutes.

  • Ask your husband and daughter to soak their feet in salt baths. The salt will kill bacteria and disinfect their feet. Change socks daily – make sure they are cotton socks, not synthetic. And alternating between shoes so that they have time to dry out properly is also important.

  • Some shoes are more prone to smell than usual especially synthetic ones, which happens to me when I buy the “cheaper ” ones . Wear cotton socks all the time and keep feet dry .

  • Make sure they wash them properly, change socks daily, buy decent shoes and there’s foot deodorant

  • The odour eaters are good and I also use Glen 20 whenever the shoes are worn. I spray generously with Glen 20 and place in a plastic bag and seal. Remove from plastic bag next day. This works for me.

  • Yes best to wear cotton socks not acrylic for sure!

  • I use bicarb soda in my kids shoes. sprinkle a generous amount in and let it sit there for while. Shake it up and then tip out. I also add a dab of vanilla or lavender oil to the inner sole too

  • Tea tree Oil spray. I haven’t tried it but I know others who have. Having to wear closed in shoes during hot weather is not ideal.

  • Baby powder in your shoes might help – don’t overdo it, though.

  • I son has smelly feet, I tend to put baby powder in his shoes, it takes a lot of the smell away.

  • Put their shoes in the sun often and get some bi carb and put in them (when they are dry) Shake it around and empty it out of the shoes. Helps remove moisture and odours. You can also get a roll on that can help.

  • Wear cotton socks not acrylic & spray shoes inside with Glen 20 to remove odours.

  • The body shop peppermint foot lotion is good.

  • there was this powder that worked. can’t remember name. make sure they wear socks, wash the shoes every week or so and leave the shoes out in the sun when possible like on the weekends to help dry it out properly and freshen them up.

  • Wearing pure wool socks I heard helps but it could be an old wives tale.
