Hello!

I’m looking to start some Christmas traditions with my family now that my kids are old enough to enjoy them. I was wondering what sort of traditions people have now & are there any in particular you remember from your childhood?

  • We like to attend a church service at Christmas eve and drive around to watch Xmas lights. On Xmas day we wait till all are awake and after a special breakfast/brunch, we start the craziness of unwrapping presents. Last year we traveled during Xmas and visited family; no presents = was the best Xmas ever

  • Just the usual carrots and water for the reindeer, beer and biscuits for Santa. Letters to Santa, ones that get replies.

  • We still use the old threepenny bits in our pudding, they have been handed down for 6 generations now

  • We enjoy a champagne with a delicious breakfast o Christmas morning.

  • We dance around the Christmas Tree chanting “anti-vacc”. Quite seriously though, vaccination causes autism.

  • We decorate the tree while listening to Xmas carols. We also have a day where we go through toys they’ve grown out of or don’t use and donate them to Vinnies.

  • not really but we wait for everyone to get up to do pressies and we give santa milk and reindeer carrots.

  • We didn’t have traditions when I was a kid, dad didn’t get into celebrations much, I remember spotting him placing our presents at the doors of our bed. For my kids, we have the usual milk and snack for Santa as well as carrot fir the reindeer. The end of the day is spent playing with the kids and enjoying their gifts

  • on Christmas eve we always like driving around and looking at the Christmas lights.

  • Oh, Remymumma.. what a lovely idea!!

  • I’ve got one that I can’t wait until my son is old enough for (he’s 3 months, so I have AGES to wait!)
It’s called a Christmas Eve box- you set it up with a new pair of pyjamas, a christmas movie or book, some hot chocolate or drink of your choice, some Christmassy snacks to watch during movie/ book time, and anything else you want to put in there- then on Christmas Eve you open the box as a family and watch the movie/ read the book etc etc ^,^
I’ve been thinking I will put the Santa snack, plate and reindeer food in there as well, to make it all part of the Christmas tradition :)

  • Decorating the tree, Christmas carols, making the pudding, making Christmas cards….just a few to get you started. :)

  • We always read a Christmas story together on Christmas Day.
