Hello!

Its coming up to the end of when I finish work, only have a couple of weeks to go. What did you other mums do when they went on maternity leave? My bags are packed and ready to go. Shall I relax?

  • I dont get what you are asking? Do you have things that need doing? Then do them. Otherwise, of course relax. I worked up 2 weeks before each of my kids came and 2 of them came early so I cant really talk from experience. And there was always work on the house and garden to be done.

  • I think everyone’s maternity leave experience is differently. DEpends on financial situation, how many other children, does your husband work Monday to Friday job? Personally for me, I kept it all local, mother groups etc. when I went back to work we planned a long weekend away together as a family when my husband was about to take time off. Personally, if I could have been one of those mums who had the ability to travel the world for the baby’s first 12 months with my husband- I would have, who wouldn’t?

  • I missed out the maternity leave bit ….. moved from USA to Perth when 26 weeks pregnant with twins – then had to negotiate the healthcare system after being away for almost five years.

  • Yes you should relax! Enjoy watching movies or a TV series you have wanted to watch as you will get no time for that soon! My maternity leave was just before Christmas so I used that time for Chrissy shopping and tidying up the house and daily naps lol

  • Make sure you have all your nappy change gear set up ready for when you come home with your newborn. It will probably be the first thing you need.
Probably a good idea to have at least one set of baby clothes ready too.

  • Relax as much as possible. Go to the movies, go to coffee with your friends, go out to restaurants with your partner as these are things you tend to miss for a while after you’ve had a bub.

  • yeah just cleaned and prepped everything. i remember washing baby clothes and stuff and putting them into a set of drawers for the first time and i was so excited to be getting ready for baby.

  • I cleaned and prepared meals and froze them, makes it so much easier when your super busy with a newborn

  • I was hopeless at the relaxing part I cleaned and cleaned and moved her room around (little stuff anyway) and then would go for an hour walk in the afternoon. The more everyone told me to relax the more I felt like I had to do something and keep busy. But I always made sure I had a nanna nap, and had a good chill session somewhere during the day :) good luck just do what feels right

  • I like the relax idea… but getting other stuff done sounds good as well, awesome thanks

  • Enjoy the time and relax too!

  • Make sure you put your feet up once a day and have a rest.

  • relaxing is always good – I also used it as a time to clean and declutter the house before bubs arrived

  • Enjoy the time and catch up on anything that may need doing as you will be busy very soon!

  • Enjoy the time you have to catch up with friends and get any last minute things for the new arrival. And yes, sleep in and the like if you can.
