  • It was a long time ago, but I believe I started my baby on Farex cereal.

  • Rice cereal was the first thing I tried. If you mix it with their formula (or expressed milk) then at least the taste wont be too different for them. Pureed pumpkin seems to be a winner for a first veg.

  • Try steamed puree veg first as its a 1st taste, some fruits may be too sweet.
    Good luck!

  • I mashed up a banana, and mixed it with the milk shes drinking

  • I tried boiled pumpkin first. Any kind of boiled soft veg is pretty safe

  • I think everyone recomends puree food for 4months and soilds at 6months

At 4 months I did steamed apple , avocado, bannana and my breast milk

And now shes 6months im starting on rice porriage

  • Pureed fruit and veg is great, my son loved it! Banana was definitely a hit!

  • Besides the other suggestions you can also give them custard, either using custard powder made from scratch with eggs. Some babies can’t tolerate eggs at that age. You may need to dilute the milk a little bit. I’m not sure at what age you can introduce baby yoghurt which is in tubes in the Dairy fridge in Supermarkets. I think the tubes have ages on them. You can also buy baby custards in the same section.
You may find out later whether your child is allergic to one part of the egg only. They can be tested at around 2 -3 years of age. I know a little one who was tested.

  • I started with pureed fruit and veg with both of mine and they loved it. Banana & sweet potato were big hits. I also made up smooth rice cereal.

  • I started my son on pureed veggies and fruit.
I would also introduce one food at a time over the course of 2-3 days incase of allergies ????
