My maternal nurse suggested waiting till 6 months old, something to do with bubs ears developing and the risk of ear infections. My little one would not take baths and didnt much fancy the shower, i got her in swimming the day after she turned 6 months and she absolutely loves it now, she is 9 mo now and still no tears in the pool and she is so much better in water, loves bath time now.
It really is such a lovely experience you share with your child aswell
My daughter was afraid of swimming when she was a toddler so I waited till she was four and enrolled her into a water confidence course and the following season I enrolled her in a two week learn to swim class where she did learn to swim.
Popular question ^_^, I answered this one on another post but thought it works here too: I started swimming lessons for my dd when she was 6 months and I often wished I had started earlier because it has been a great experience for her and for me as well. Often local swimming centres often baby bonding classes for really young ones and the first “lessons” are more about getting the babies familiar with the water and encouraging good habits (kicking, floating, breath control etc). I’d check out what is on offer in your local area, try it out and see how they go, if you feel they are still too young that’s OK you can try again a bit later. (sorry for the copy and paste)
