  • Depends on the size of the area you need disinfected. If it’s a large area I would call in a carpet cleaner and have the carpets and tiles steam cleaned.

  • I think it might be best to steam clean it with some sort of suitable disinfectant . That’s the problem with carpet as dirt gets trapped so easily in the materials no matter how hard you clean . My allergy cough subsided when we got the main carpet removed and the dirt was really horrible underneath when I saw it being rolled out .

  • get a pro in for the carpets, you could do them yourself though and bleach everything.

  • Domestos mixed with water or sugar soap in water

  • The tiles would be the easiest and quickest to clean – like the others have suggested, some heat and metholated spirits/ disinfectant/ floor cleaner.

The carpet is more tricky. Vacuuming won’t do it. I’d get them professionally steam cleaned.

  • I have a Steam Mop and I like to clean the whole house with it!
I would use pure vinegar as a disinfectant on the area that has been Tainted.
If you are really worried call in a professional carpet/floor cleaning service.

  • BI CARB SODA with a few frops of vanilla essence …sprinkled on carpets and left for an hour or over night then just vacuum up .. Cleans and leaves it smelling lovely without harsh chemicals

  • ajax floor cleaner for the tiles – it is really good…. I would get carpets professionally cleaned. good luck

  • Glen 20 have a fabric spray that is also a deodoriser. So after cleaning up the offending “mess” I would give it a good spray with the Glen 20.

  • I have a steam cleaner. It’s brilliant. Carpet, lino, bathroom tiles, windows……you name it this cleaner cleans it. And using steam, it kills all the germs

  • For the tiles i usually put some metholated spirits in hot water and mop like you usually would but this is not good for carpets. All i can suggest is to give it a spary with some Glen 20. I would be intrested in what other mums have to say about cleaning disinfecting carpets.
